Milly's Bar | Brooklyn, NY
We designed this Bed-Stuy bar as a warm, welcoming space that reflects the character and charm of the neighborhood. The space was previously a Cuban restaurant, but the new vision was a transformation into a bar with live music, somewhere that felt rooted in the community but elevated in experience. Our client wanted something that celebrated the area’s history and felt authentic to Bed-Stuy’s evolving culture.
We took inspiration from the architecture of the surrounding brownstones, especially in designing the back bar, which became the central design feature. Its arched niches reference historic façade details while creating a striking and organized display for bottles. Throughout the space, we used a variety of wood tones to create warmth and contrast, with fluted wood panels wrapping the front bar, DJ booth, and host stand to add texture and rhythm. Large windows and layered lighting contribute to a cozy, intimate vibe while maintaining a clean, modern edge.
